The Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Tuesday commenced the investigation of some uncompleted projects in the state.
The house, during its plenary, set-up 9-member adhoc committee headed by the deputy speaker, Odefa Obasi, to probe the projects.
Setting up the committee, the speaker of the House, Francis Nwifuru, listed the projects for the probe to include Centenary City formerly known as Ochu-udo city and the internal roads in the city.
Others are the International Market and the internal roads, Sharon/Iboko road, Offerekpe, Ukawu and Ezillo Water Schemes, Kpirikpiri/Nwofe road, Offerekpe/Offenakpa road, World Trade Centre among others.
Two of the projects, the world trade centre and a section of the international market, were being handled by the governorship candidate of Labour party in the last election, Edward Nkwegu (Edon).
Mr. Nwifuru directed the committee to summon all the contractors that handled the projects and submit its report within two weeks.
The speaker also noted that the probe was not targeted at former Governors Sam Egwu and Martin Elechi, but at the contractors handling the projects.
The house also set up a 10-member committee to check and finally stop secret cult-related activities in the state.
Mr. Nwifuru, while constituting the committee headed by Chris Oselebe from Ohaukwu South, commended the efforts of security agencies in the state in curbing the trend.
“Your task is to identify the members of various cults groups in the state and call them to order within a fortnight,” he said.
