In a bid to reduce the high cost of accommodation in the South-East geo-political zone, Enugu State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA, yesterday, made it known that its maiden Enugu State Housing Forum scheduled to start tomorrow, will bridge the gaps responsible for high cost of accommodation.
Vanguard reports that ECCIMA explained it had brokered an arrangement with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigerian, FMBN, that will ensure easy access of cash to developers, which will put an end to the era of abandonment of building projects midway on account of paucity of funds.
While talking to newsmen at the council chambers on the first Enugu Housing Forum, with the theme Real Estate Housing Development, Veritable Sector for Sustainable Development, ECCIMA President, Ugo Chime, said: “Rents are increasing to N700,000 for a three-bedroom flat in Enugu metropolis.
“Juxtapose this with the prevailing situation with the economic recession in the country. Something drastic needs to be done urgently.
“That is what informed this maiden Enugu Housing Forum.”
