Embracing Alternative Technology Will End Housing Deficit In Nigeria

As the country continues to fight the problem of huge deficit in the number of houses available to the people, former Director General of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P in Niger State, Alhaji Hassan Nuhu, has said that adopting alternative technology in the construction of houses would go a long way to end the problem

He suggested that the country should now buy into the hydra form technology in the construction of houses which he said, would reduce the cost of each building.

He made the suggestion in Minna, on Tuesday, while speaking at the inauguration of a Primary Health Care clinic constructed 100% using the new technology at the Newgate College of Health Technology.

The former SURE-P DG said that the hospital, as well as virtually all the buildings in the college, were constructed using the new technology which he said had saved more than 40% of the cost of the buildings if the conventional materials had been used.

“We are happy to present the Hydra form technology to Nigerlites. This is an amazing technology that can be used to address the problem associated with housing deficits in the state.

“Today, we are proud to say that half of the structure of the college is hydra form and today we are commissioning the first hydra form public building in Minna and Niger State.”
