FCTA orders area councils To close land offices

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has ordered the six area councils to immediately close all land offices, while affected staff members redeployed to their various departments for further posting.

A circular, dated June 9th, 2017 signed by the FCT permanent secretary, Dr Babatope Ajakaiye, which was made available to LEADERSHIP in Abuja yesterday, explained that the closure of the six area councils land offices has become imperative following the expiration of the Accelerated Area Councils Title Re-issuance Scheme (AACSTRIS) project.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the AACSTRIS project was initiated in May 2016 to fast track the process of regularization of all area council titles and facilitates the issuance of certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) for mass housing and sectional titles in the FCT.

The circular further directed that all relevant documents pertaining to the offices be transferred to the departments concerned.
