FG approves N348b for Akwanga-Jos-bauchi-Gombe road

Abuja – Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and his cabinet members rose from the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, to approve N348.594 billion contract for the construction of 420.6 kilometers Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe road.

According to Babatunde Fashola, Minister for Power, Works and Housing, the project scope is for the expansion of the current two-lane highway into a dual carriageway.

He explained that the significance of the project is that it completes the integration of the north-central with the south-east and the northeast.

Fashola, shortly after the meeting, said Council had previously approved the Abuja-Keffi Road and the Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi Road all in the North Central geopolitical zone of the country.

He said in May this year, Council had also approved Ninth Mile Enugu to Makurdi Road that connects the South-East to the North Central.

He said it completes the spine of the major movement of agro-produce and other related produce, while the construction process will span 48 months.
