FRSC, Julius Berger discusses forward on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Management of the road construction company Julius Berger and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) have met and charted possible way forward to ease the movement of motorists devoid of accident during the rehabilitation of the road.

The FRSC in a Press release signed by the Ogun state FRSC Public Education Officer, Commander Florence Okpe and made available to news early on Thursday said it became imperative to meet with the construction company so as to ensure that the company comply with the current standard by providing adequate road signs for motorists while the work is on.

The statement hinted that the meeting had in attendance, the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Lagos and Ogun States, Assistant Corps Marshal John Meheuz.

Also in attendance were the FRSC Sector Commander Ogun State Command, Corps Commander Clement Oladele and his Lagos State counterpart represented by the Deputy Corps Commander Operations, Deputy Corps Commander Morakinyo among others from both the construction company and the Redeem Christian Church

The release read in part,”As part of efforts at monitoring the ongoing rehabilitation of the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, aimed at alleviating the sufferings of motorists during the period of the rehabilitation exercise and ensuring that the contractors, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC (JBN) provides adequate and standard road signs, the FRSC met with the construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.

“The meeting, held at the FRSC Unit Command Conference Room, Mowe, Ogun State, was chaired by the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Lagos and Ogun States, Assistant Corps Marshal John Meheuz. The FRSC Sector Commander Ogun State Command, Corps Commander Clement Oladele and his Lagos State counterpart represented by the Deputy Corps Commander Operations, Deputy Corps Commander Morakinyo, were also in attendance.

” The contractor, JBN was represented by the Project Manager, Engr Urrhman. In attendance too is the Project Manager Federal Ministry of Power Works and Housing, Engr Ibrahim and the Director Traffic Services ,Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG) , Pastor Adejumo Adeniji.

“The meeting equally had in attendance the FRSC Unit Commander of Mowe Unit Command, Assistant Corps Commander Oseni Hamzat and Head FRSC Outpost, Ibafo, Route Commander Micheal Osuiagu.

“After the meeting a tour of the entire project was undertaken to accommodate current realities, including providing palliatives at failed portions of the corridor as well as prepare ahead for the upcoming RCCG Holy Ghost Convention scheduled for first week of August 2818, to minimise traffic discomforts to the worshippers and other road users“.
