“Niger Government on Wednesday announced the allocation of 30 hectares of land to Zungeru Polytechnic for the construction of games village through public private partnership.”- NTA
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Umar Ahmed, made the disclosure in a telephone interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
“ We have a master plan designed for construction of the games village, which will comprises of hostels, staff quarters good roads network, market, recreation centres as well as public halls,” he said.
“We are meeting with reputable companies interested in the projects and very soon we will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a ‘build-operate-and-transfer’ basis.”
He said that the management of the institution will carefully monitor the execution of the projects to ensure strict adherence to contract specifications.
“Our major challenge in the polytechnic is lack of hostels to accommodate our increasing number of students,” he said.
He said that the private developers will soon be mobilised to the site and within a very short time the projects will be completed.
