Marine Club of Nigeria begs Rivers to allocate a piece of land

 “Marine Club of Nigeria begs to Rivers Government to allocate a piece of land on a navigable waterfront to it.”- The Eagle

The President of the club, Dr Chinedu Jideofo- Ogbuagu, made the plea in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Jideofo- Ogbuagu said: “We would develop the waterfront we seek as Free Trade Zone.
“We hereby offer you partnership of MCN and request for a navigable waterfront land allocation.
“Port Harcourt is the maritime-economy hub of Nigeria and West Coast of Africa.” According to him, increased maritime activities will boost maritime-economy, safety and security in the state.
Jideofo-Ogbuagu also said about 80 per cent of the activities in Rivers was maritime in nature.
He noted that increased activities in the maritime sector of the state would also boost employment and wealth creation.
Jideofo-Ogbuagu said the club founded in 2003 was the umbrella body of professionals, practitioners and stakeholders in the Nigerian maritime economy.
