Abuja – A group, the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council {AU ECOSOCC} said it has developed a road map to engage and attract Nigerians and investors in the Diaspora for socio-economic development of the country.

Addressing newsmen at the weekend in Abuja, Mrs. Chinwe Maduike, an International Consultant / Special Adviser on Investment, Diaspora and Development Partners to AU ECOSOCC Nigeria, said the engagement of Nigerians in the Diaspora could be of immense benefits to their country of origin and the Continent at large as it would attract huge foreign direct investments.

She explained that a road map for effective and sustainable engagement with Nigerian and African diaspora communities has been developed by the group, adding that six core areas have been identified for the engagement of Nigerians in the Diaspora.

According to her, “My team and I, at the AU ECOSOCC – Nigeria has identified six core areas for diaspora engagement which we will be focusing on.

“They include making remittances work for the common good, for this we have also strategically partnered with leading money remittances companies around the World.

“We have developed a framework for direct investment by Nigerians in Diaspora. It would involve finding and attracting serious minded investors in the diaspora.

“We will work on areas involving ideas on the transfer of human capital. It includes philanthropic contributions in the area of development, capital market investments and diaspora tourism.
