I will back property tax in FCT — AMAC/Bwari Rep. hopeful

LABOUR Party (LP)  House of Representatives candidate for AMAC/Bwari federal constituency, Chief Somadina Anene, says he will support the collection of property tax in the FCT for developmetal projects.

Anene, who said he would not shy away from the tax in so far as it will not be punitive and unreasonable for people to pay explained that the FCT residents can’t run away from the tax considering the fact that it is from the tax that government is expected to provide most of the basic necessities of life to the citizens.

His words: “If elected I will support enforcement of property tax. You can’t runaway from it but the magnitude is what matters. There are a lot of avenues for government to explore for revenue generation. For me, it has to be reasonable and not punitive.”

The Labour Party hopeful, also promised to offer himself for the service of the people of his constituency if elected, noting that the decision to contest for the position came out of the pressure from people who believe in his philanthropic gestures and his ability to improve the living standard of the people within a short period of time.

“I came out to contest based on popular demand from people whom I have touched their lives in so many ways. They knew my track record of success and they believe that I can surpass the performance of the present representative,” he said.
