Iyana Ipaja Market razed by Fire

Iyana Ipaja Market area of Lagos state got razed by Fire at 1am today, 2nd June 2015. It was gathered that around 1am today, a petrol tanker fell off the bridge running into a nearby mosque as it supplied the drainage systems with plentiful amount of fuel.

Residents were awakened to a rapidly spreading fire from the point of impact through streets where all the elements were in the right proportion for a fire to ensue

At the time of this update, no record of lost lives.

The mosque is however intact. Although shops around where the tanker fell were destroyed.

There are speculations that the fire must have been started by the impact of the container with the floor, or some heat from nearby supplied by electronics or burning coal.

The Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos state is characterized by a thriving populace of hardworking Nigerians who come out to make ends meet daily trading wares, stationeries, confectioneries etc. during the day and suya, bread, and edibles at the bus stop at night.
