Jealous lover arraigned for damaging hotel’s property

“A Bureau de Change (BDC) operator, Ahmed Ibrahim, was yesterday arraigned before an  Ikeja Magistrates’ Court  for allegedly damaging an hotel’s property while searching for his girlfriend and her lover.”- The Nation

Ibrahim, 35, of Bolaji Street, Agege, was arraigned before Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, on a two-count charge of wilful damage of property and breach of the peace.

Prosecuting Inspector Victor Eruada said Ibrahim committed the offences on July 8 at Demesco Hotel, Oke-Koto, Agege.

He said the defendant intentionally damaged 15 glass cups valued at N25,000 and a crate of Star worth N1,500.

Eruada alleged that Ibrahim arrived at the hotel “and started shouting that his girlfriend was lodged with a man in one of the rooms and that the management should provide her. In the process, he started damaging property.”

He said the hotel’s manager, Paul Nbareze, demanded payment for the damaged items, but Ibrahim refused to pay.

“The complainant reported the case to the police and the accused was immediately arrested,” Eruada added.

Magistrate Anifowoshe granted him N20,000 bail with one surety in the like sum.

The case continues on August 14.
