Jigawa sets up committee to recover Govt. funds & property

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State and member of the transition committee, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri, has said Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar had set up a committee to trace and recover funds & property belonging to the government.

Kiri, in a chat with Daily Trust also said the government of Badaru was taking its time in the area of appointments to avoid making mistakes.

“I understand that some people are getting agitated because our government has not announced commissioners, advisers and so on. But I want to assure that we are working round the clock to make sure we get things right. You see the governor has asked stakeholders in the 27 local government areas to nominate credible people for appointment into all vacant positions based on competence and capacity to deliver. Apart from that, it will interest you to know that we have a number of committees working silently in the state; like committee on assets recovery. The committee’s mandate is to recover looted government property and funds belonging to the state. The committee will soon make its findings public,” he said.

He said apart from the issue of slashing public office holders’ salaries and allowances, recovery of looted funds and property would help government to finance its policies.

Kiri called on people of the state to exercise patience with the APC government in the state, adding that the party and government would not disappoint
