The Chairman, Board of Directors, Lafarge Africa Plc, Mobolaji Balogun, has revealed the plans of the company to go beyond cement production and marketing to building Nigeria and other geographies in the world.
He said the company would be a force for good in rebuilding Nigeria and Africa’s infrastructure.
Balogun, in the firm’s recently published annual report, said, “I have thought about a vision for my tenure as chairman, and that is encapsulated in these few words: A force for good.
“Our company is so much more than cement and over the next few years, Lafarge Africa will demonstrate this in Nigeria and across all our geographies.”
Aside from being a force for good in building Nigeria rebuilding Nigeria and Africa’s infrastructure, he said the company would work towards housing millions of Nigerians and Africans.
He also said Lafarge would contribute to solving the country’s power challenges, rebuilding roads with concrete and “perhaps even in dealing with waste in our largest cities.”
Balogun added that the company would be a force for good in the rebuilding of the North-East geo-political zone of Nigeria and in its host communities.
We will be a force for good in building Nigeria and Africa’s future. I have no doubt that, God willing and with the help of stakeholders, we will make our stakeholders proud,” he added.
Balogun was quoted as saying, “The government recognises the urgent need to re-invest in Nigerian infrastructure to catalyse more needed growth. We therefore see growth opportunities in 2016 and beyond for the building material sector.”
