Land trespass: Okumagba calls on Okowa to avert looming ethnic crisis in Warri

Vanguard reports that Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri has urged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to stop alleged conspiracy by a clique in his administration to illegally grab an expanse of land the community released to the state for public use decades ago.

Vanguard reports that in a statement in Warri, one of the community leaders, Prince Mitaire ‘Mimi’ Okumagba, noted that the conspiracy was aimed at transferring ownership of the said land to an influential politician from another kingdom in Warri metropolis which could trigger another ethnic crisis in Warri if not checked.

Okumagba said: “These hectares of land situated beside Shell Petroleum Development Company Housing Estate, Edjeba were acquired under the Land Use Act during the 80s by the then Bendel State Government for the purpose of infrastructural development.”
