Man Seeks Justice For Wife Over Failed N2.5m Property Deal

Police detectives attached to the Delta State Police Command are looking for some workers of Pentagon Real Estate Investment Limited over an alleged N2.5m fraud.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the development, said one Amunewa Steven Onyeka petitioned the Commissioner of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, on the matter.

Kalu said the petitioner complained that his wife was allegedly defrauded by some group of fraudsters who operated under Pentagon Real Estate Investment Limited in Lekki, Lagos to the tune of N2.5m.

A copy of the petition made available to Southern City News, reads, “Sir, I am Amunewa Steven Onyeka. Before I got married to my wife, she was working with a new generation bank.

“While working, she invested in a property through a firm, Pentagon Real Estate Investment Limited, with office address at Suite E/68/E91, Ikota Shopping Complex, V.G.C, Lekki, Lagos.”

Onyeka said his wife initially applied for two plots of land at N850,000 each and made a total payment of N1,150,000 before she lost her job.

The petitioner alleged that the wife applied for termination of investment, but was advised by one Tuesday Akenbor, who used to work with the firm, not to terminate the entire investment.

He added that the wife decided to keep one of the plots and subtracted N850,000 from N1,150,000 and refunded the balance less COT and administrative charges in 2011.

“It got to a stage that I had no option but to get involved in the matter. I personally called the firm on different occasions and one Mr. Simon kept telling me same old stories of no fund to give to my wife.

“So, I decided to use a lawyer to write them if that would make them refund her money to her. I paid the lawyer N20,000, but I did not know that they did not respond to the lawyer’s letter and they did not refund my wife’s money,” the petitioner said.

Onyeka said he decided to confront them on their Facebook page; a situation that made them to call his wife and gave out a GSM number belonging to one Paul (08172174951, 08020684601).

The petitioner said “I eventually called the said Paul, who claimed to have been working at the Accounts Department at Pentagon Real Estate Investment Limited, but they kept telling me same old stories of no fund to give to my wife.

“They kept on posting different pictures of estates they are developing on their Facebook page, before they finally said the company will refund the money in installments.”

The petitioner, however, called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, to come to their aid and alleged that they had gone through hell in the hands of Pentagon Real Estate Investment Agents.

“We have borrowed money on interest basis to run our business and we have cash somewhere with a company. We are still with the original copy of the property; my wife’s name is Ezeobi Jane Chinyere, whom the Estate Agents duped,” Onyeka said.

But in a swift reaction, the State Police Public Relations Officer said efforts were being made to track down the agents after the police were told that they (suspects) were no longer working with Pentagon Real Estate Investment Limited.
