Motorists laud Aliko Dangote over Obajana-Kabba road construction

Motorists and commuters travelling from the north to the south and vice versa, have commended Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group of companies for the quality of work done so far on the 44 km Obajana-Kabba road which is adjudged to be the longest concrete road projects in the country.

Cross section of the motorists who at the weekend said the road project has started supporting and easing vehicular movements to and fro across the regions.

A businessman from the north, Abubakar Umar who applauded the president of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, described the project as a big relief as it has already eased travelling and connectivity across the regions.
On his part, a consultant, Mr. Abdullahi A. Umar, who normally travels through Okene in Kogi State said he now uses the Obajana-Kabba road and called on other companies to emulate the Dangote Group.

Some of the motorists who spoke to our reporter urged governments at all levels to the partner Dangote Group in road construction.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of AG-Dangote Construction Company Mr. Ashif Juma said the Obajana-Kabba concrete road project will be completed by December this year as planned.

Juma said so far, 33km earthwork and 22 km concrete pavement have been done.
He urged Nigerian governments at all levels to switch over to the construction of concrete road instead of asphalt, saying “it is far superior, durable and cheaper, as it does not require frequent maintenance.”

In a related development, a statement from the Corporate Communications Department of the Dangote Group said: “Concrete road last longer than asphalt roads and do not have potholes. It does not require frequent maintenance as asphalt roads. It saves fuel for motorists and protects tyres from wear and tears.”

The statement said it is part of the Dangote Group’s determination to support government and Nigerians in order to grow the economy and facilitate ease of doing business.
It added that the Obajana-Kabba rigid pavement road project was part of the corporate social responsibility (CRS) of the Dangote Group Plc.
