National Waste Management conference to hold in Lagos

The Guardian reports that the maiden edition of the National Waste Management conference will hold at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island early next month. The newspaper adds that the conference which is organised by InterMarc Consulting, reinforces the need for national policy on waste and engender the need for a national stakeholder partnership for the overall agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event has objective of stimulating action in the areas of critical importance such as achieving access to adequate equitable sanitation and hygiene for all to end open defecation by 2030, The Guardian reports.

According to The Guardian, some of the speakers at the conference include Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, Senior Special Adviser to the President on SDG, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs. Orelope Adefulire, DG/CEO NESREA Dr. Lawrence Anukam, MD Project Management office and GeoCycle, Lafarge Africa Plc, Mrs. Adepeju Adebayo.

The Guardian reports that the Chief Executive Officer, InterMac consulting, Mr. Adeyinka Adeyemi, said “there is no National Waste Management Plan in Nigeria and if any is available in any of the states, it is likely not substantial.”
