Nigerian company partners India to build Kidney treatment hospital

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Adhyay Foundation based in India and a Nigerian company, Fasbir Construction Limited, to build a kidney and other related ailments treatment hospital in Dass, headquarters of Dass local government area of Bauchi state.

The disclosure was made in Bauchi state by the chairman of Adhyay Foundation, Samer Khan.

Khan was in Bauchi to meet with the chairman of Fasbir Construction Limited, Alhaji Sani Shehu Sanin Malam, to complete preparations for the take-off of the hospital project.

Hundreds of millions of naira will be spent on the project, which involves the building, provision of the state-of-the-art equipment as well as professional medical personnel from both countries. Over N200 million has been provided in the first phase for the procurement of some of the items, which he said would soon arrive in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, newsmen previously reported that the federal government was seeking ways to improve efficiency in the operations of public hospitals and re-equip them to save foreign exchange drain arising from medical tourism.

The minister of state for health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, made the statement at a news briefing to commemorate the “5th World Universal Health Coverage Day,” in Abuja on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

Ehanire noted the theme for the commemoration, “Unite for universal health coverage” and slogan, “Now is the time for collective action’’.

He said that the Federal Ministry of Health and its partners had developed an operational platform for ensuring that every citizen had access to affordable and comprehensive care in a timely manner.

The minister said that the ministry and its agencies, as well as partners, were guided by a common vision and goal for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He said that efforts were on-going to kick-start the first phase of UHC in Abia, Osun, Katsina, Yobe, Edo and Federal Capital Territory.
