Nigerians have been advised to migrate from the traditional ways of developing homes and other buildings to modern system where components of the building are manufactured and assembled.
The process known as dry construction is being championed by Nigerite Ltd, a complete building solutions company that formally launched its Kalsi, a new innovative product which is the major component in the dry construction system.
Nigerite Limited is a member of Etex Group worldwide with over 120 factories in 44 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. It has been in existence in Nigeria for more than 55years providing excellent roofing, ceiling, flooring solutions and its latest innovation, Dry construction.
At the launch of Kalsi into the Nigerian market, recently, a foremost real estate developer, Yemi Idowu said it was about time Nigerians moved from building of homes to manufacturing of homes and buildings.
Idowu, however, advised the manufacturer of Kalsi to take care of the hollow sound that emanates when prospective home buyers tap the wall of the building.
When they are told it is prefab building, he said these buyers always tap the walls to listen for a report of the sound. “You people should do something about that.”
Regardless, the Managing Director of Nigerite Limited, Mr Frank Le Bris, welcoming guests in an address ‘Tomorrow Is Right Here Today’, described Kalsi as an innovative building solution.
Bris said, “For us in Nigerite, the introduction of this set of tomorrow’s products today is a major technological accomplishment for Nigeria. This is because, it simply puts Nigeria in a comfortable position as a reckoning force in the committee of developed and developing countries in the world by promoting a product that is at the peak of innovative building trend in America, Europe and some part of Asia. I assure you that you are in for a wonderful experience today as we unveil this product and its attendant benefits to you. Indeed, tomorrow is here already!”
Giving reasons why people should invest in Kalsi Dry Construction, the managing director said, “As a prominent and active player in the built industry over the past five decades and having been and still remaining a responsible corporate citizen of Nigeria, we as a company owe it a duty to the industry and the country to champion economic and technological innovations that we have experienced in the developed world through the network of the parent company –Etex.
“We have carefully observed our environment and come to the conclusion that we do not have to wait for tomorrow to bring this avant garde technology to Nigeria.
“Even though, the introduction of this technology has caused us a lot of money in terms of investment in new factory lines and equipment as well as additional personnel, we believe that this is just one of the few things we can do to contribute to the economic and technological upgrade of Nigeria.
Some of the reasons, among others, that made the company to go for KALSI dry construction system, he said include: “It is the future of building technology. Since we cannot run away from tomorrow, why not bring tomorrow to today if we have the means. The world over, dry construction is gaining the ground.
“To augment the efforts to cover up the housing deficit in Nigeria. It is common knowledge that housing deficit in Nigeria today is close to 20 million, this solution is being introduced as one of the fasted means of bridging this gap since it takes pretty few number of days to construct from start to finish.
“It ensures cleaner environment at construction sites and thus points to our avowed commitment to environment friendliness. It costs less in the final analysis; It helps to beautify the environment, whilst it is not a replacement for the wet construction system; it is simply an alternative to it and also provides quicker, effective and cheaper means of renovation.”
Others are that it is all encompassing as it offers products cutting across all parts of a building except the roofing; It is easy to move and construct. As part of our commitment to finding more convenient ways to building processes, we believe it will guarantee a much more convenient method of renovation and construction; and it is absolutely safe in its applications and use. This will be fully revealed to us in our consequent presentations.
“We cannot close our eyes to developments in the world as far as building solutions are concerned,” Le Bris said.
He said Nigerite limited has pioneered solutions (products and services) that were and are still unequalled in the building industry. These were borne out of sheer and dogged dedication to competent personnel, research, innovation and investment in state of the earth technology and equipment applicable and attainable in other parts of the world.
Nigerite has pioneered roof maintenance services, technical services and consultancy as well as championed the crusade of safe and healthy environment in Nigeria.
