The Ogun State Government has said that the discount rate for subscribers to its Homeowners’ Charter to bring succor to residents of the state who regularize and obtain genuine title documents on their properties is still valid.
The Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Adewale Oshinowo, expressed displeasure that some people were trying to hijack the programme through fraudulent acts, adding that building plan approval under the charter was still N20,000; survey plan, N20,000 instead of N60,000; stamp duty, N20,000; and Certificate of Occupancy, N35,000.
He said in a statement that the final bill would depend on the size of the property and the area where it was located.
“A typical family bungalow of four bedrooms on a single plot of private land will be just N95,000 instead of the normal price of N430,000, which is 78 per cent discount,” Oshinowo was quoted as saying.
He added that the scheme was created to minimize disputes on the ownership of landed properties, property related frauds and problems of land speculators as well as enhance the value of the property market in the state.
“It has come to our notice that some people now disguise as Homeowners’ Charter programme staff, extorting money from residents; whoever is apprehended in this act will be dealt with accordingly,” Oshinowo said.
