With the aim of alleviating hardships faced by motorists plying the Ijebu Ode-Epe road, the Ogun State Government has commenced massive rehabilitation of the road linking Ijebu-Ode and its environs with Epe in Lagos State.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Olamilekan Adegbite, while inspecting the rehabilitation work, said the road would ensure free flow of goods and services, especially transportation of farm produce from the state to Lagos, adding that the rehabilitation exercise would be completed within a week.
Adegbite, who said that only the part of the road that falls within the state was being rehabilitated, also expressed the hope that upon completion, the road would be used to harness all potentials towards enhancing the socio-economic development of the state.
While justifying government’s intervention on the road, Adegbite said the road had been in a bad shape for years, disclosing that motorists plying the road had gone through untold hardships and have clamored for government’s intervention.
In his own words, “We have never stopped the regular maintenance of roads in Ogun State and once fund is available, we prioritize the road to receive attention from the list of roads in the ministry.”
