Protesters shut down Abuja airport road over market demolition

Movement in and out of Abuja through the popular and ever busy Airport Road has been shut down for hours now by a heavy protest that engulfed the Gosa Market area of Airport Road.

Movement through the airport road, central area and some satellite towns of Abuja is currently on stand-still.

The youths including women are protesting the demolition of the popular Gosa market including shanties within the market by the FCT authorities.

The airport road is a major gateway to Lugbe, Giri, Gwagwalada, and the central parts of Abuja.

Hundreds of motorists plying the road have been prevented to use the road as the youth have set up bonfire and tires to block the entire access way.

Police and military presence cannot calm the angry youths at the moment.
