Real estate agent held for Gaya land scam

After over five months of lodging of a criminal case in Bodh Gaya in connection with the multi-crore land scam, a real estate agent who facilitated land transaction in fraudulent manner was arrested on Friday.

The arrested real estate agent has been identified as Krishna Pandey. Probationer IPS Jagannath Reddy, who recently took over as Bodh Gaya police station SHO as part of his training programme, was instrumental in the real estate agent’s arrest. The arrested man has been sent to jail, said Reddy. Scam kingpin Kitty Nawani and his close associate Saryu Prasad continue to dodge Gaya police.

Pandey is alleged to have not only played an important role in the sale-purchase of prohibited land allotted to poor families by the government for their livelihood, he is also alleged to have vetted scam kingpin Kitti Nawani’s (a Thai national) Indian identity.

Nawani, during investigation turned out to be a Karachi (Pakistan) born Thai national. Nawani has since left the country. As per the contents of the sale deed of the prohibited land, it was Pandey who allegedly identified the Thai national as an Indian citizen before officials of the Gaya land registration office.

The scamsters, as per the FIR lodged with the Bodh Gaya police station, tricked innocent Mahadalits into selling the ceiling land allotted by the government at throw away prices.
