Quant Capital to hold Real Estate Investment Trust seminar

The Guardian reports that a global investment private equity firm, Quant Capital will be hosting Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) seminar across Nigeria in August and September 2017.

The seminar, which holds in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kaduna would deepen the REITs market in Nigeria and provide professionals with an understanding of the real estate industry’s unique drivers and challenges.

Managing Director and General Manager of Quant, Wale Gomez and Ken Chiazor who spoke to The Guardian on the seminar, said it would also equip participants with the knowledge of how to build advanced REITs valuation models using actual current case studies.

“Participants with little or no knowledge of REITs will also be able to gain an understanding of their nature, relevance and key features. They would also enjoy two years post-seminar support,” Chiazor added.

REITs, modeled after mutual funds would provide investors with regular trainings on income streams, diversification and long-term capital appreciation.

It is a kind of collective investment scheme regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which pools capital from investors and uses same to acquire income generating real estate, mortgage loans, or both.

Chiazor explained that while so many other countries have keyed into REITs and have significantly tapped into it for real estate development, “REITs in Nigeria was still at its infancy stage despite the huge potential in the market. The African REITs market is presently valued at $29 billion.”

The seminar parades experienced resource persons from within and outside they country, including Managing Partner of S.I.A.O Partners, Ituah Ighodalo, a United States based expert in Real Estate Investment Trust design and operational models, James Duncan and President of the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy, Joe Ajalekoko.

Others are former company Secretary and Head of Legal, Union Homes Savings & Loan, Daniel Aderemi, a United Kingdom based Legal Practitioner, Anthony Igbiniyesu and Wale Gomez, Group Managing Director/CEO of Quant Capital.
