Senate calls for reintroduction of toll gates on federal highways

Reports show that the Nigerian Senate has called for the reintroduction of toll gates on the nation’s highway.

According to Vanguard, the Senate mandated its Committee on Works to form a synergy with other relevant stakeholders to brainstorm and come up a holistic policy that would help set up toll gates in Nigeria.

The committee is also to come up with a blueprint of effective ways of generating funds for road construction and maintenance. The Senate also urged the committee to do a thorough job and report back as soon as possible to enable lawmakers take a position on the issue, Vanguard reports.

According to Vanguard, the resolution of the Senate was sequel to a motion moved by Senator Suleiman Nazif, APC, Bauchi, titled  Need for the Re- establishment of Toll Gates on our Federal Highways.
