The major challenge on the issue of building collapse is that individuals differ radically from one another on the professional to blame as the major cause of the collapse of a building.

As the battle between the Lagos state government and the Synagogue Church of all Nations wages on, we want to take a moment to analyze the various arguments that has resulted from the monumental disaster.

What really led to the collapse of the guest house killing 116 people mostly South Africans?

A military expert, Mr biedomo Iguniewei revealed that the unfortunate disaster was as a result of Infrasonic radiation infused on the guest house via a weapon from a strange aircraft that decided to specifically hover round the guest house for reasons left to the imaginations.Though he didn’t tell us how this was carried out without any visible movement or activity around the aircraft.
Could the collapse be amounted to the supposed high energy- infrasonic weapon on the strange aircraft making a focused beam of sound or radiation directed at the target area?

Hmm…this sounds ludicrous

However, if the foundation pillars were still intact when the building collapsed then the structure shouldn’t have failed due to bad foundation but it could also be that the foundation pillars were just good enough to hold the original 2-storey building plan and not the additional 4-storey building

But to totally rule out the possibility of the strange aircraft having a connection with the collapsed guest house will be prejudice and that’s only if there has been enough evidence to suggest it was responsible for the fatality at the most important edifice in Ikotun-Egbe and not the one impressed on us by the sci-fi movie watching military expert.

Other logical evidence suggests that the building must have failed because the base that was supposed to take the load was grossly inadequate from inception. This was based on all the various tests and calculations, also prone to human error.

Court proceedings revealed that the structure stood on a wrong choice of foundation base.
The engineer, who demonstrated the defect before the court after being provided with a copy of the structural design, said the load imposed on the foundation was far more than the foundation could bear, hence the collapse.

If this bit is true, then what happened at the Synagogue is a pure case of criminal negligence. You can’t have a foundation for a structure meant to hold a 2-storey building then turn around to take it up to 6-storey building, that’s suicidal!

However, the contractor, who built the collapsed Synagogue Church of All Nations’ six-storey guest house, thinks otherwise. Mr. Akingbola Fatiregun said that the building was constructed following best practices. Well, he will be incriminating himself and betraying his own people if he admits anything different from this.  He is a member of the church so why expect anything less

But if his company, Hardrock Construction and Engineering Limited is widely known and had carried out other major projects for 11 years, not only in Nigeria but also in Ghana, Niger Republic and even the United States as claimed then the collapse can’t be attributed to structural defect, right?
I mean what happened to experience and consistency?

“Structural failures have peculiar ways of falling but this one was unusual. From my observation, the building came down symmetrically as

if it was guided. The fall appeared as if a method of bringing down a building was applied,” Fatiregun stated.

As long as the coroner’s inquest continues, the fate of the Synagogue remains undecided.

To be continued tomorrow…
