TUC urges Buhari to make the National Housing Fund useful

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Wednesday urged the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to address the plight of workers in the country.

Mr Ifeanyi Okechukwu, the Chairman of TUC in Anambra, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka. The labour leader called on the president-elect to make the National Housing Fund useful and beneficial to civil servants and other Nigerians.

The congress appealed to Buhari to employ his disciplinary tact to stamp out corruption in the civil service.

Okechukwu said the civil service needed to be purged of corruption to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Besides, he urged Buhari to harmonise workers salary and unify the national minimum wage.

Okechukwu further appealed to Buhari to address the workers housing scheme to enable them own houses after service to the nation.
