Weiler GMBH & BTG Group to Deploy Precast Technology for Housing Development

Weiler GMBH, a German construction outfit and BTG Group, one of Nigeria’s real estate development companies, have concluded arrangement to use precast concrete building technology to increase the nation’s huge housing shortage.

Briefing the media at the innovative housing solution dialogue recently in Abuja, the management of BTG Group, led by Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, said the outfit has concluded partnership agreement with the German construction giant to establish large scale precast factories in the country for the production of large mixed housing development to meet Nigeria’s housing deficit.

The feasibility studies for the citing of the factories had been concluded and setting up will soon commence across the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.

He said: “The precast concretes for the modern buildings market will be produced in our ultra-modern factory to realize among others low cost house buildings on a large scale, individual villas, town house complexes, modern and unique office building, schools and hospitals, including commercial and industrial buildings.”

According to him, the precast technology which has several advantages which include its strength and extreme durability, adding that a greater percentage of houses built in Germany, United Arab Emirate and other developed nations are products of precast building solution.

Arodiogbu stated that buildings produced from the technology can be shaped in any design, explaining, He added: “BTG Group is extremely happy, committed and feels privileged to be investing in the future of the country’s real estate sector and most especially introducing an innovative solution on a large scale to bridge the huge gap within the affordable homes provision to Nigerians.

“Because in these tough economic times, Nigeria needs smart organizations BTG Group that have the interest at heart to support government and its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDGs).”

In an earlier remark, Mr. Christopher Mueller, who led Weiler GMBH’s management’s team said the company’s long years in the construction sector using precast has made it a household name across several continents.

He said Weiler is proud to partner with the BGT Group and to use it as launching pad into the African continent, adding: “We are opening our doors to Africa through partnering and supporting companies in the delivery of faster and affordable houses for Nigerians.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Geelhoed Group, a Netherland infrastructure delivery company, Mr. Chris Oyokoro, said arrangement had been concluded with Anambra state government through the state Property Development Company to build 1000 housing units using the precast model. He added that the pilot scheme will thereafter be deployed to other parts of the country. Mr. Charles Farimoyo, of the Terra Motion BV, who is a facilitator of the deal said the technology will drastically reduce the cost of owning house in the country. He expressed confidence that precast technology is the solution to the housing needs.
