Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has cried out over the poor state of federal roads in the state and called on the Federal government to hasten to save the roads from imminent collapse.
The Governor made the call while inspecting erosion sites along the Onitsha-Owerri and Onitsha-Enugu expressways which had caved in at two points in Okija, Ihiala local government area on the route to Owerri and at the foot of the fly-over in Nkpor on Onitsha-Enugu road.

He said that the Federal government owed the state an outstanding N25 billion accruing from reconstruction of federal roads in the state.
“This is the reason why we must get permission from the federal government before embarking on palliatives on the eroded sites.
It is very clear from the gravity of the erosion that the state alone cannot handle the project with its meager resource because it will run into billions of naira”, he said.
