Ever lived in a ghetto? How was it like?

This week’s vox pop is an interesting one as we shared in the experiences of people who have once lived in the ghetto. We threw out this opinion poll to people on Facebook and we were able to harness reactions of different sorts.

According to dictionary.com, ghetto is defined as a section of a city, especially a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by members of an ethnic or other minority group, often as a result of social or economic restrictions, pressures, or hardships.

We find that this slum area particularly in Lagos state is on the increase. Some of the commentators sarcastically referred to the whole of Nigeria as a ghetto.

Felix O Sylvanus Ghetto could be relative. The experience differs. For me, growing and having to pass throu that arena was really fun at that time. Piling in up to use the three available toilets and the three available bathrooms. Having to join the entourage of some nice cook sharing the same kitchen according to your block. I will never live there again with my children. That era is gone forever.
